New Country Director To TAV Tunisie
Güçlü Batkın assigned as the Country Director of TAV Tunisie, which operates Enfidha and Monastir airports, the main entrance gates to significant tourism centers in Tunisia. Assuming duty immediately, Batkın replaces Haluk Bilgi who resigned due to health problems. Newly appointed TAV Tunisie Country Director Güçlü Batkın stated: "Tunisia has a privileged position within the portfolio of TAV. We continue to work very hard in collaboration with the world's leading investors, IFC and Pan African Fund, in order to utilize the potential of Enfidha and Monastir in full. We are carrying out marketing and promotion operations, especially across Europe, by using TAV's know-how to overcome the recession in tourism sector due to the Arab Spring. We will continue working in collaboration with all of our stakeholders, mainly government and civil aviation authority, in order to contribute to the development of Tunisia." Providing services to approximately 3.3 million passengers in 2014, TAV Tunisie provides employment to more than a thousand people in total at both airports. TAV Airports, which is operational at 14 airports in seven countries, has 67 per cent shares of TAV Tunisie. International Finance Corporation, IFC, a subsidiary of World Bank, has 15 per cent shares of the company and Pan African Fund holds the remaining 18 per cent. Having submitted the best offer in the tender held in 2007, TAV undertook the operation rights of Monastir Airport the following year. Enfidha Airport, which was constructed in a record period, was put into operation in December 2009. TAV has the right to operate these two airports until 2047.
